I am pleased to announce that as of May, 2011 I became an accredited member, specialist in Decorative Arts, Porcelain, Silver, Furniture and Collectibles, of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers. of course I can evaluate paintings and art work for you. In order to become an accredited member I had to summit past evaluations, letters of recommendation and meet their professional standards. I decided to join and support the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisals because I feel it is important for standards to be set and met in this industry. Please note. I come to your home to examine the items. I charge $90.00 per hour for an oral evaluation ( you take notes ) or $160.00 per hour for a formal written one. Mininum charge one hour. There will be an extra charge if the items are off the island of Montreal. I charge only for the time spent at your home, not for any research needed or preparation of the report.

If you are planning to sell one item or the entire contents of a home, an appraisal gives you peace of mind and helps you avoid costly errors. It is an extremely useful tool in dividing an estate equally among family members. An experienced outsider who is not affected by sentimental value, is often the best judge to determine the value of the objects in your home or estate. Knowing the value of an object ten to twenty years ago, does not necessarily reflect the current value. Some items have gone out of fashion and other like Canadian Art have increased. Collectables have become quite sellable and these items may be hard to recognize to the inexperienced. It is not unusual for a household to have pleasant surprises.
